When I tried to evacuate him he died on the way to hospital,” narrated Neelam Sera, father of the decease child. “How come a private hostel of a prestigious school shows such negligence towards a hostel boarder? Are they interested only in collection of hostel fees?” Questioned Sera. If proper medical treatment had been given to my child, he could have been saved, the father lamented.

Meanwhile the parents have lodged an FIR at Hapoli police station and also made a complaint to the principal of VKV Joram for necessary action against the private hostel.  The hapless parents also urged the district administration to deliver justice to them and to ban the private hostel as it ‘does not follow basic norm and shows careless attitude toward the boarder.’

PPA flays Centre on ILP issue of  train passengers

A/Times impact

ITANAGAR, Sept 26: While reacting to the news item carried by this daily regarding Rajdhani train tickets, the Peoples Party of Arunachal (PPA) today alleged that by letting non-APSTs enter into the state without ILP just by getting reservation ticket of Rajdhani, the BJP government has taken the first step towards permanent removal of ILP. It is pertinent to mention that in today’s edition this daily had carried a report wherein it was mentioned that by November this year Indian railways is planning to start Rajdhani train service between New Delhi and Naharlagun.

Report also quoted source claiming that the person having reservation ticket of Rajdhani train will not require ILP to enter the state.

“This policy of the BJP is directly threatening survival of the indigenous people of Arunachal. This policy also contradicts the spirit of Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act. It seems that the BJP is following hidden agenda to push non-APST people into Arunachal Pradesh and take away the customary rights of indigenous people over its resources, land, etc,” the PPA asserted. Party demanded that the BJP government should immediately cancel this decision and respect the provisions enshrined by the constitution. People’s Party of Arunachal will oppose such evil intended moves of the BJP government by tooth and nails and appeal all indigenous people to oppose such move for the sake of coming generation. However, PPA suggested that the issuing of Inner Line Permit process should be simplified by issuing permit to a person having valid identity proof like pass port, voter ID, Adhaar Card, Pan Card on arrival at the railway stations.

ITANAGAR, Sept 26: ABK, District unit has confirmed the 24 hours bandh call in East Siang District on September 27-28 from 5am to 5pm informed unit president Okom Yosung and General Secretary Tajing Taki.

However, there will be no bandh at night hours i.e from 5 pm to 5 am.

The duo said that despite AdiSU bandh on September 25 last, no any concrete message was received from the state government regarding the demands for exclusion of Adi villages i.e Depí, Depí, Moli, Detak, Korang and Sido from Lower Siang District and recognition of Simen river. Though we have no any objection in creation of Lower Siang district but we have strong objection over the boundary demarcation. The traditional boundary between Adis and Galos  is Simen Korong (river) which was amicably settled by forefathers of both the community through Bogum Bokang Kebang. But the state govt. is not upholding the sentiments of Adis, which force us to take up such movement today, they added.

Yesterday in their message ABK said that the bandh would be postponed due to proposed state cabinet meeting on September 29 at Pasighat. But the government has deferred  the date for cabinet meeting. So the district unit in a meeting today has decided to carry on its proposed 24 hrs East Siang Bandh as declared earlier regarding Lower Siang issue.

The organization trio opposed any modification or amendment of the notification against the interest of the people of both the constituencies. They urged the state government to resolve all issues, if any, and effect the functioning of Lower Siang without further delay with its temporary headquarters at Likabali and permanent headquarters at Sikirima.

An MP standing by us

Dear  Editor

Through the column of your esteem daily, We, on behalf of all the distressed peoples of Lower Dibang Valley District and Dibang Valley District would like to extend our deepest appreciation to our beloved and honourable Member of Parliament, Eastern Parliamentary Constituency, Ninnong Ering.

He is the first ever M.P. of Eastern Parliamentary Constituency who visits our water locked & bottleneck region after regular intervals.

Although there had been many M.P.s that we had elected to ease our maladies, other than him no one turn up. He has been very attentive and judicious in interacting with the people of Lower Dibang valley and Dibang Valley District.

Ering is a man to be most praised, as he always choose to visit us in rainy seasons when the connectivity is at worst, sometimes on foot , sometimes on elephant and sometimes taking the risk of the precarious boats in turbulent and treacherous weather. We are convinced that leader like him should be an example, to be learned, for the contemporaries of today.

Improve accountability

Dear Editor,

Should we ever remain a mute spectator or just be humbled with a tag of a very sufferance denizen through out whole episodes of social & political turmoil, snail pace developments, shattered law and order, backwardness in economy, unstressed bureaucracy and administration & unplaced pressure groups? How our state has grown up today and we are still obediently enduring without expressing even a word of disapproval.

Development of roads and highways at the cost of potholes, land slides, mudslides & traffic congestion ; Development of a clean city at the cost of garbage dumps, filth, rotten odor; Dealing competitive exams with downpour of controversies and criticisms, series of assurances of law and order with chains of incidents of robbery, murder, kidnappings.

The land of the rising Sun need to improve the accountability and effectiveness in basic parameters in order to rise above all hullabaloo.

Yours,

Jumli  Rina

Stop violence against teachers

Dear Editor,

Through the column of your esteemed daily, I would like to share regarding recent violence against a teacher of D.N.G.C (Dera Natung Govt. College), itanagar.

“Mata, pita, guru  daivam” a quote taught in every school has very little value now as compared to what traditionally people in India believed in.

Recently, a car of an assistant professor was allegedly set on fire by a group of students in D.N.G.C itanagar.

Last year also one incident occurred when some people misbehaved with three faculties and attempted to assault them during the verification process.

D.N.G.C is the second institute of higher education in our state with a maximum student’s capacity.  It has its own reputation but if teachers are not safe in this institution, then how will the college run smoothly?  Apart from parents, they also shape our lives by imparting knowledge to us and help inculcate good morals to us.

So, it’s my plea to the education minister and the concerned organization to take immediate measures’ to stop violence against the teachers’ community in the state. Install CC TV cameras and deploy security personnel in the entry and exit point of all the institutions in the state.

Yours,

Sandeep kr. Thakur

Expectations and power dept

Dear Editor,

The ever increasing rate of inflation across the country has a definite steep ripple effect on the prices of the daily consumable items in our daily local market.  Issues have been raised by many common people, district authorities which has eventually subsided without any outcome. Adding to our existing daily problems of bad roads filled with potholes, inflation rate of consumable items, deteriorating law & order, followed by the exponential hike of the electricity bill. Per unit of non-commercial tariff is more or less equivalent to the commercial tariff. This has led to heavy burden on citizen of the State.

Most of the common people know the natural calamity is certain to come sooner or later due to irrational creation of dams in every possible stream which is directly affecting the equilibrium of the environment. In both fronts, the indigenous people are facing the calamity; the former is losing the lives in untimely break of the dams, and the latter is paying the hefty electricity bill to the power department. Is it not the responsibility of the power department to supply 24x7 as per the suitable existing Govt. norms?

An interesting facts of the matter for levying such hefty tariff rates cited by the power department is to earn revenues to compensate the main supplier. But this lead to the subsequent questions, a) whether the power department is a service or profit oriented

b) whether their policy allow benchmark of continuous interrupted power supply

c) Renting a meter to every home by power department which shows abnormal usage of units.

With the recent phase of power supply, economic activities of the twin cities is paralyzed completely. There is a common saying that the people are paying the electricity bill for continuous interrupted power supply and the day is not so far when the state will move into dark period of underdevelopment. The atrocities are rising against the power department day by day and it may further escalate into agitation if the demands are not met.

The Irony of RGU

Dear Editor,

An advertisement appeared in the local dailies of the state Inviting application in mid 2013 for the post of Assistant Registrar and various non teaching/supporting staffs for RGU. I applied for the post of Assistant Registrar and received my calling letter on January 2014. The written examination was held on 1st February 2014. Out of all the examinees for Assistant registrar, more than sixty (60) aspirants qualified and were called for viva voice test.

In March 2014, all the qualified candidates appeared for the viva voice examination just for Two (2) vacant posts of Assistant Registrar.

Till today, more than six (6) months after the Viva Voce, the result is not declared/made public. The result is not available even in the official website of RGU.

This act of privacy/secrecy maintained by the RGU authorities compels one to question whether there is foul play.

Yours,

One of the Aspirants

NCP cozying with BJP

There is something remarkable about the political development in Maharashtra. From the very beginning, the BJP leadership had appeared confident that its divorce with the Sena will also put an end to the Congress-NCP tie-up and lead to a five-cornered contest in the state, MNS being the fifth party. The NCP calibrated its move to tensions in the saffron bloc and steeled its posture once a collapse of Sena-BJP ties appeared inevitable. It is to be seen if this would lead to political realignments.

A five-cornered contest can create possibilities that the practitioners of realpolitik may be loath to let go of, especially if the past is anything to go by. It was Pawar's rebellion against the central leadership in 1995 which cleared the way for the saffron alliance's maiden victory. Pawar reportedly encouraged his "people" to take the field as 'independents' when denied Congress tickets. Many of these independents won at the expense of the official nominees and, later, helped Sena-BJP form the government. Pawar also shared a close relationship with former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, being nominated vice-chairman of the national committee on disaster management during his term. Vajpayee was also keen on a tie-up with the NCP and Pawar's revolt against the Congress over Sonia Gandhi's "foreign origin" appeared to reciprocate the sentiment. Going by this history, is a post-poll alliance between the BJP and the NCP possible? Time will tell.
